REFERENCE DEPARTMENT The new atlas-text Vancouver; A Visual History by Bruce Macdonald is geared to both the research and the recreational reading communities. Beginning with general reference maps followed by a historical and then a social examination, Macdonald has inserted an extensive text and the message he, as atlas-maker, wishes to tell. Yet, the abundance of charts, tables and maps leaves the reader much to interpret and enjoy beyond what the author provides. In the age of environmental peril, the Reference Department has added another title to our growing eco-collection. The Green Encyclopedia is for the most part a dictionary-formatted handbook providing more than just definitions of key environmental terms, but also personalities, discussion, contact addresses, and suggested readings wherever applicable. A "Special Information Section" covers some of the most volatile issues of the earth's habitat. Because of its size, the Canadian Tax Forms by CCH Canadian Limited is held behind the reference desk. This 2-volume publication is a reproduction of all the income tax forms and schedules issued by Revenue Canada which can be used by the public. Although the forms are just for viewing, the volumes are useful for those researching tax and investment questions, especially when the appropriate form is unknown.
