Taped books are works of fiction or non-fiction, including classics or recent best sellers, which have been transcribed onto cassette tape by professional readers. Unlike the "Listen for Pleasure" cassette versions of novels and other popular works which are available to everyone. Taped Books are unabridged and, as a result, restricted by copyright requirements to patrons certified by a health care professional as being eligible for the program. The Memorial Library has approximately 2,300 separate titles in the collection but additional works are also available through the Greater Vancouver Library Federation, of which West Vancouver is a member.
