REFERENCE DEPARTMENT With the arrival of summer many travellers will be planning trips abroad. For those in vacation's pre-planning stages, it might be useful to note that the Reference desk has a copy of the voluminous Hotel & Travel Index. Bear in mind that this Index is a worldwide directory updated four times a year, and therefore hotel prices cited will be relatively current. Environmentalists, as possibly those with other interests, may like to know that the new 1992 second edition of the Canadian Bnviromiental Directory has arrived. This publication is more than an annotated directory in that it includes an overview section with essays, chronologies and statistics on environmental Issues. In honour of Canada's great pianist, the late Glenn Gould, the National Library of Canada has published a "descriptive catalogue of the Glenn Gould Papers" in two volumes. Many West Vancouver library patrons who have asked in past years for information about this controversial, yet creative musician will be pleased to find these volumes in Reference simply by searching the title under Glenn Gould. ADULT SERVICES IN THE GALLERY .... paintings by West Vancouver artist Alan Reynolds will be on display in the Library July 2 to July 31. Alan Reynolds is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and is currently President of the West Vancouver Sketch Club. His choice of subjects includes landscapes, seascapes, portraits and still life. During the past year he has completed a number of semi-abstract paintings which will be Included in this show.
