The Quebec Civil Code is useful to students and those needing or wishing to understand the unified codes of legal principles used in Quebec. The only Canadian province that did not adopt British Common Law practice, Quebec has patterned its civil and commercial laws after the French Napoleonic Code of 1804, adopted in Canada in 1865, and this latest edition amended in 1987. The other The Law of Contracts has often been requested by patrons involved in what seems to be a world swelling with personal and commercial contracts. The complexities of contract law and its subtle legal precedents are discussed in this text. An interesting recently-published title acquired by the Reference department is the Dictionary of the Avant- Gardes. Included are those ideas and a small minority of people "ahead of their time," and often ridiculed and even ostracized for their aesthetic and creative convictions.
