Did you know? Adult Services Information is much more than a "Reader's Advisory" or "Directional" Service. We have answered and have a quick reference file on these and many more interesting nuggets of knowledge. For example .... How to make applehead dolls and how to lay out athletic fields ... how to build a brooder, a crab trap, a grape arbor, a flower press and to find a tanka by Empress Jito. How to grow ginseng, how to care for goats, make a Jacob's ladder, a May basket and the origin of the "Seven Deadly Sins" .... Japanese packaging .... and what is the meaning of Om Mani Padme Hum? .... how to make a saddle, how to drape a sari and what is "Sadie Hawkin's Day".... who wrote the Skater's Waltz and do you have a record of "Stripper's Music" ... how to tie ties, wrap a turban and information on Zarzura, if it exists, which we haven't found but is still being researched. LIBRARY HOURS Monday to Friday Saturday Sunday (Oct.-June) Victoria Day 10 a.m. 10 a.m, 1 p.m. p.m. p.m. p.m. A MOVING EXPERIENCE Anyone visiting the Memorial Library recently will have noticed work on the extension is progressing rapidly, as the contractor strives to meet his deadline of June 1st completion. This means that we will gain access to the new space at that time, but there will still be lots to do in upgrading part of the old building, in completing landscaping and so on. We intend to occupy the new extension in stages beginning with the Youth Services department as we seek to minimize disruption and if possible avoid a total closure of the building. Eventually nearly every one of the more than 200,000 items in the Library will have been moved - some more than once - and the 25,000 books at Hillside School will have been returned to the main collection. We'll have to establish a temporary entrance at the east end of the building, then move it back near the present one later. It will probably be the end of July before everything is finished.
