REFERENCE DEPARTMENT The mindful Christmas shopper will want to remember that there is a well used consumer research section in the Reference area. The consumer publications review products which have been domestically popular for a period of time while not often evaluating industrial-type products. A newly acquired issue of special interest to those shopping for children is the Toy Report, 1992, published by the Canadian Toy Testing Council. The Library receives numerous copies of most editions of the Self-Counsel series. Self-Counsel Press publishes time-sensitive self-help books on legal, business and financial topics in response to public demand for information in plain language by authored experts. However, the titles in this series are not a replacement for the advice lawyers, accountants or other specialists can provide. There are circulating copies of these books, but because of their popularity, the Reference department holds one copy of each title to be used in the department should there be no circulating copies available.
