It's intended as a convenient record for our borrowers, to assist you in keeping track of various items that you have on loan, including those that may have fallen down behind the sofa or become hidden under a stack of magazines. But it is an optional service. Some people feel we shouldn't be wasting paper - even low-grade computer paper - in this way. If you're one of this group, please let the desk clerk know before he or she "wands" your library card to check out your books and we'll instruct the computer (yes, it still does what we want it to do rather than vice versa, most of the time at least) to cancel your receipt. So far it's proving to be a popular enhancement, but if we find more people over time declining rather than accepting the receipt, we'll change things around so that you only get it if you request it. Meanwhile, we hope the receipt will remind you to look behind the sofa for that missing book, and avoid a possible library fine. WEST VANCOUVER MEMORIAL LIBRARY 1950 Marine Drive West Vancouver B.C.
