The construction phase itself is expected to last approximately 1 1/2 years. We'll be doing everything we can to minimize the disruptions and to maintain our regular service levels during that time. The plan we propose to follow in managing this will be communicated in coming months. Within a very short time we'll be adding some electronic enhancements to our service delivery: the provision of a computer- produced receipt at the circulation desk if requested, indicating items borrowed, fines owing if any, etc. Also, we'll have some public domain software available on CD ROM for the computer literate among us, to be accessed in the Library or by telephone. Then we'll ......... but we're out of space! Mainly we'll hope to add to your knowledge and pleasure during 1991. 1^^ The other on-going issue is the Free Trade Agreement and its impact on business and individuals. Since the GST will affect everyone in one way or another, the Reference Department has attempted to keep abreast with the background and specifics of this new law. The instructor will examine the kinds of environmental issues that affect our lives and the current legislation related to these issues.
