OCTOBER # . % LIBRflRy REUJS ^ ANNIVERSARIES Twelve months ago the Memorial Library Foundation launched the Special Edition capital campaign to raise funds for building expansion. Amid balloons, bands, speeches, author readings and singing, a number of dedicated volunteers pledged themselves to come up with $4.75 million (including matching funds from Municipal Council). A year’s worth of hard work later the total raised is still a bit short of the goal, but it's evident that the expansion is going to go ahead anyway. Anyone wishing to help create sufficient space for the library needs of our community over the next several years is asked to contact the fundraising office at 926-2013. An even more significant anniversary for us is coming up next month: Remembrance Day, November-^1, will mark 40 years since the Memorial Library first opened its doors - handed over debt-free to the Municipality by an equally determined band of community fundraisers and volunteers. Watch for details of the celebration events scheduled for Saturday, November 10, and the rededica- tion of the Library as a World War II memorial on Remembrance Day itself.
