many individuals, businesses and other organizations are still waiting for an approach from the fund raising team. The campaign directors are trying to get to everyone, but are finding that running an enterprise like this is a tremendous, time- consuming challenge. Although the total is beginning to close in on the target, the campaign could still use plenty of help and your financial participa- tion. Gifts can be pledged over a five year period and are tax-deductible, so why not give the campaign office a call at 926-2013 and help put us over the top! With the participation of Architect Rick Hulbert and so many others, the expanded Memorial Library is indeed beginning to take shape. REFERENCE DEPARTMENT New in Reference are much needed texts treating two contrasting world outlooks; Jewish Art and Civilization edited by Geoffrey Wigoder, and Art of Islam; Language and Meaning by Titus Burckhardt. Both titles are elaborately illustrated and describe much about the cultures and histories of the respective religions. Two related works found in Reference are the Encyclopaedia Judaica and the Atlas of the Islamic World since 1500. On a different note. The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz has recently arrived. This compre- hensive, 2-volume set is shelved separately in the Reference Reading Bay with the 20- volume set of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and the 3-volume set of The New Grove Dictionary of Musical Instru- ments. Each of these works is well researched and balanced. Most entries are signed and provide bibliographies of titles used for the research, or further reading recommendations for the researcher.
