News carried, as a news item, a list of names of those who had registered for play during the previous week, the numbers rising from 36 in mid July to 96 in the last week of August. The honour of making the first "hole-in-one" on the course fell to Mr. A.T. Finnie of West Vancouver. According to a front page item in the West Van. News of March 16, 1928, the feat was "recently accomplished at the seventh hole while playing with his father T. Finnie and was verified by Mr. Jock Glen, the professional at the links". The same item mentioned that many improvements had been made, many "lost ball" patches cleared and tile drains installed at No.1,2,4 and 5 fairways. Meanwhile development of the residential subdivision proceed- ed and in the local newspaper of November 23, 1928, we find the following item: GLENEAGLES BEING DEVELOPED: Steady progress is be- ing made with the Gleneagles residential estate which is destined to become a high-class residen- tial area. Gleneagles is protected by a minimum cost building restriction, and the exclusion of orientals and colored races. The building sites are very desirable and particularly appeal to pro- fessional and business men, being not too far from the city, and affording unusual opportunities for relaxation and recreation. The golf course is draw- ing 'large numbers of players from both the city and our own district during the weekends. The Country Club will, it is expected, eventually
