On the left, on the far side of 17 Street, Alexander’s General Insurance Office is hard to distinguish as it blends into the higher building of Currie’s Woodyard behind. Also on the left, in the immediate foreground, the building with the false front is Dundarave Heat Market, run at the time by Hr. Goldsmith. A vacant lot separates it from Garthorne’s Grocery at the corner. The "Refreshments” sign is strung between the store and the nearest telephone pole.
