He moved to Victoria in the late 1920’s, but on his retirement, returned to V/est Vancouver and became reeve in 1945-44. 30. Return to the Pier or to Parking It is suggested that you return to the pier or to your car down 24 Street, across Marine Drive to the lane, and down the lane to 25 Street. This will give you an idea of the parking facilities off-street and the possibilities for office building development. On the left, on the far side of 17 Street, Alexander’s General Insurance Office is hard to distinguish as it blends into the higher building of Currie’s Woodyard behind. Also on the left, in the immediate foreground, the building with the false front is Dundarave Heat Market, run at the time by Hr. Goldsmith. A vacant lot separates it from Garthorne’s Grocery at the corner. The "Refreshments†sign is strung between the store and the nearest telephone pole.
