NEW PICTURES AND INFORMATION NEEDED FOR CENTENNIAL BOOK. Meeting November 19 th Seniors Centre - 7:00 pm. We are once again holding a meeting to gather pictures, stories or documents on the history of neighbourhoods in West Vancouver. We are looking for unique pictures, stories and documents which will help to enrich our Centennial Book on the development of West Vancouver. Please join us at 7:00 pm to share information and discuss the unique nature of these two areas of West Vancouver. Coffee and cookies served. President's Report Production of a 'sample chapter' of our Centennial Book on the history of West Vancouver is moving forward. We hope to have the chapter on Caulfeild printed and ready for our fund raising campaign early In the New Year. We have engaged Colleen Wood as the designer. She designed 'A View Through the Trees' the book on the story of trees In West Vancouver written by Elspeth Bradbury. We have also engaged Page Two. Cont'd. next column. President's Report - cont'd. John Moir to be the lead in securing archival photographs and to take current photos where appropriate. Both Colleen and John will work closely with Francis Mansbridge the author. Having secured three excellent people In key areas we have a team of volunteers who will assist them in many phases of the tasks necessary to bring home an excellent book. Don Grant has stepped forward and has produced a version of a web site for the Society. At present the beginnings are on the Hollyburn Heritage Society site. You may go to that site and look for the West Vancouver Historical Society icon to view the early beginnings of what will eventually be our own site. We thank Don and the Hollyburn Society for helping us to get started. Stay tuned for further information on the development of the content for the site. When it has reached a 'mature' level we will spin off and become our own location. The next meeting to gather information for the book and the Archives is on November 19^^ at the Seniors Centre at 7:00 pm. The Seniors Centre has become a partner in the project through the donation of meeting rooms for these information gathering sessions. We thank them for their cooperation. Finally, we have a speaker at our November 25^^ General meeting in the Seniors Centre on the book The Ambitious City. Written by Warren Sommer, it tells the story of the development of North Vancouver. It also was written as a celebration of the Centennial for the City of North Vancouver. Warren lives In Fort Langley and will give an illustrated talk on the history of the City. Jim Carter.
