John Anderson, close associate of A.J.T. Taylor, was Secretary Treasurer and a Director of the British Pacific Properties and the First Narrows Bridge Company and was intimately involved with the two from conception to handing-over of the Bridge in May 1939. The quotation is from aletter to John Anderson from Reeve J.B. Leyland, May 15, 1939 and is cited in D'Acres & Luxton's book Lions Gate. Binning Lane - After B. C. Binning. Vancouver artist whose career included membership in the University of British Columbia School of Architecture and the founding of the Department of Fine Arts at the University, Combining both artistic and architectural vision, in 1941 he and his wife built a trend setting house, one of the earliest of the International Style, noted for its radical departure from traditional styling. This pioneering example of the modern movement is now a National Historic Site, and has received a heritage designation from the District of West Vancouver. Capilano Road - Named after the river along which most of this road passes. Portions were formerly known as Water Works Road and Pipe Line Road.
