DAL RICHARDS Jim Taylor, well known sports writer and biographer will speak about a book he is preparing for the fall on Dal Richards. Dal, an icon of big band music since his early days at the PNE as a teenager, through his years at “The Roof” in the Hotel Vancouver up to today, where he performs each summer at the Harmony Arts Festival at John Lawson Park. Jim tried to persuade Dal to let him write his biography for a number of years before he finally agreed last fall. Dal is in his 90’s, so Jim’s research and work with Dal will preserve one of fond memories many of us have of Dal and his music. Jim Taylor, now 71, had a career that has lasted 50 years, through 7,500 columns, three times as many radio appearances, lots of television and a dozen books. Page One.
