Editorial - cont^d. I would appreciate receiving more input regarding the early days of West Vancouver from members receiving our publication and others who may have some fond memories of those early days, so we may continue to inform our members and general public about the events, past and present. I am sure many residents, have in their memories many fascinating tales to tell of early West Vancouver, and perhaps would like to share them with others. As time passes memories fade and much of the history is inevitably lost, which, in my humble opinion is an irretrievable loss which can never be recovered. Please consider sending your memories and any photographs that may enhance your story to me at the West Vancouver Historical Society, 680 - 17*^ Street, West Vancouver, B.C., V7V 3T2; be they large or small, they are all a part of West Vancouver's history and society. All photographs will be returned to you or given to the West Vancouver Museum Archives if you wish. Cdito-i ♦♦♦♦♦♦ Summer Barbeque a Great Success The board of the Society, after reviewing falling attendance at our Christmas Party, decided to try a summer barbeque as a replacement. We were uncertain whether the switch would be a success. On Saturday, August 23rd the weather cooperated and the grounds of the Museum proved to be the perfect place. Yvonne Bower coordinated the event and succeeded in creating a festive atmosphere. Her planning and arrangements, including a singer, made for a great afternoon. Our heartiest congratulations to Yvonne for her superb efforts. The food was plentiful, with hamburgers, turkey hot dogs, vegetable burgers, salads and desserts. Wine was served along with a variety of non- alcoholic drinks. Two tents were erected to provide shade, folding chairs from the museum were available. Over seventy five people attended including our Mayor, Pamela Goldsmith Jones. Cont'd. next column. Summer Barbeque - conPd. It was a great day.
