Our guest speaker this evening is Elspeth Bradbury, a retired architect who has lived and worked in West Vancouver for 18 years. Her passion for gardening and for the natural world has led her to write countless articles as well as two books. It was while she was serving on the West Vancouver Heritage Advisory Committee that she began to research and write about the area's greatest inheritance: its forests. West Vancouver: A View Through the Trees is the result. For many of us the word forest conjures up poetic or even spiritual images: the uplifting grandeur of soaring trunks; filtered shafts of sunlight; the poignant beauty of autumn leaves littering a mossy trail. The romantic view, however, is only one way of looking at trees. There have been many others, and most have played a part in the history of this relatively small and compact community. Elspeth Bradbury will be speaking about her book this evening. Everyone is welcome to attend this interesting and informative presentation. \ Paee 1
