West Vancouver Fire Services Museum & Archive Society - Courtesy of Pamela Friedrich The West Vancouver Historical Society recently made a donation to the West Vancouver Fire Services Museum & Archive Society in their efforts to build a permanent home for the vintage fire trucks, equipment, tools and archival material they have been accumulating since 1986. The group’s treasures have been a traveling exhibition, moving from fire hall to fire hall for nearly two decades. Until now, the Jeep and trucks have been stored at different fire halls in the municipality, which was creating a shortage of parking space. With some municipal funding and equal parts fundraising, the former firefighters cleared the land and built the storage building for the three antique fire engines - all popular attractions at local parades, especially among children and autophiles. Pamela Friedrich and Bonnie Kyle on behalf of the Historical Society attended the very successful Open House for the Fire Museum and Archive Society on October 7*^^, 2006. The event was on the grounds and inside the new building behind No. 4 Fire Station at 965 Cross Creek Road in West Vancouver. Several dignitaries, including our acting Mayor, Vivian Vaughan, and our local MLA Joan McIntyre attended and were invited to speak at the event. Many of the firefighters at the new building site today, including Tom Bell, Rick Titcomb, Howard Moody and director Aime Lehouillier vividly remember when the red Jeep was used by the (Cont’d. page seven)
