HISTORY-ONICS §1 NO. 1 JANUARY 2003 THE NEWSLETTER OF THE WEST VANCOUVER HISTORICAL SOCIETY BURRARD DRY DOCK:A HISTORY Most of us are aware that during World War II over one hundred vessels, most of them "Victory Ships" were built at Burrard Dry Dock in North Vancouver, but how many know that the famed R.C.M.R vessel "St. Roch" was also built there in 1928? North Vancouver Community Archivist, Francis Mansbridge, in his new book "Launching History, The Saga of Burrard Dry Dock" describes these events, and many others, in the nearly one hundred year life of the company. Please join us on January 22nd to hear Mr. Mansbridge's illustrated talk on this fascinating chapter in British Columbia's history.
