EXECUTIVE REPORT: By: Dave Barker It is nearly that time again - your 2002 membership is nearly up for renewal. You may wonder where this fee goes. Here are a few examples from this past year. • Support of the Museum and Archives. This is our main reason for existence. We respond to their requests for financial aid to enable them to keep up witli current technology and their ability to best serve West Vancouver citizens. • Repair to the winch at the Point Atkinson Lightliouse. • Purchase of a headstone for West Van’s first Reeve. • Assistance witli the financing of the new information kiosk at John Lawson Park. • Presentation of Historical material for the kiosk. • Publicity for and presentation of our bi-monthly general meetings and guest speakers. • Publication and distribution of History-onics, our bi-monthly newsletter. • Planning and financing the presentation of books on our area to the Museum and Arcliives and eventually to West Vancouver schools. Renew your membership, give gift memberships for Christmas, and encourage family and friends to join. Your dollars are well spent. Meeting Room Problems We are sorry for the mix-up regarding our meeting room, in September. We had arranged for our future meetings to be held in the Audio Visual Room at tlie Seniors' Centre as we feel tliat this room would be more suitable for us. However, we have to return again to the Activity Room, and this must continue until at least next spring, we are told. It seems that classes take precedence over meetings, and so our "best laid plans" have had to be put on hold. We are working veiy hard to arrange for the use of the Audio Visual Room for our AGM in May, and for meetings thereafter. Ed. Note: As always, when we predict an improvement in facilities something goes wrong! This will change, we trust.
