Renowned local author, Doreen Armitage, has written another hook. Her first book was entitled "Around the Sound: a History of Howe Sound - Whistler". Doreen came and shared her knowledge and her stories about the Sound and its characters willi us at an earlier meeting. Now her newly published second book, entitled "Burrard Inlet: A History" will be the subject of her illustrated talk to us at our March meeting, and it is sure to be just as much enjoyed as her former talk was. As she did tn her first book which was about How'e Sound, our auiJior traces the story of Bun aid Inlet, Irom its formation by glaciers to tlie present day, and she includes many fascinating and lively stories of the people who lived near or worked on the Inlet's waters. At our March meeting Doreen will present a slide show and readings from r. a • her new book, which Inghlight Burrard Inlet's exciting past and its major contributions to the development of the Vancouver area, the Lower Mainland and of British Columbia. As a keen student of local history, Doreen enjoys researching the forgotten and hidden aspects of our heritage, and writing about them, both in her books and in several magazine articles. Come and join us for this talk if you can. Doreen is an excellent speaker and, who knows, you may find new stories of old friends and family wliich you did not know existed.
