EXECUTIVE REPORT: By; Dave Barker The year 2001 is finally over. What began as a good year for many includ- ing the West Vanouver Historical Society quickly deteriorated with September 11th and subsequent world events. Hopefully, 2002 will see a vast improvement in world peace and stability. December's annual Christmas Party was a happy affair in spite of the inclement weather. The Board would like to thank those many members who pitched in and worked so hard to make the event a success. We were particularly pleased to see the fine turn out. As well, we have been pleased with the attendance at the General Meetings. The speakers have been informative and entertaining on a wide variety of topics. The Board would like to thank those who gave of their time and expertise to enlighten the rest of us. Finding speakers of interest and ability is a difficult task. We ask for the help of the members in suggesting names of potential speakers and topics of interest. Some of you may even volunteer your services. Also a re- minder that these meetings are open to the public, so don't forget to invite friends along with you for the evening. The Board wishes you a very Happy New Year filled with good health and friendship. A Note from Your Editor. The end of the year is a busy time for everyone, including your newsletter staff, and for the past few years we have not put out a January newsletter for you. However, this year is different. Here we are coming to you in January again. A big thank you to all who contributed articles in November so that most of the work could be done before Christmas was upon us. We are glad to be back and hope to continue with a January edition in future. What does this mean for you as a Society member? Well, it means that the general meetings for this year will be in January and March, with the Annual General Meeting being held in May, before many of us go off for the summer, or simply get bogged down with summer family ties. We hope this means that more of you will come to the AGM in May and look forward to having a special party- time to celebrate our spring-time return. Please mark your calendars for the following meeting dates, which as usual are almost always the fourth Wednesday in the month : January 23rd (of course!): March 27th and May 22nd, 2002 See you there.
