EXECUTIVE REPORT: By: Dave Barker On behalf of the Board of Directors of the West Vancouver Historical Society, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season. As well, I invite you to attend our annual Cliristmas Party on December at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Spuraway Lodge. Along with seasonal good wishes, I encourage all members of the Society to renew their membership for 2002 and to introduce a friend or relative into the historical circle with a gift membership. I invite you to attend our General Meeting on November 28th to hear a presentation by Robin Inglis, the Director of the North Vancouver Museum @ Arcliives and former curator of the Vancouver Maritime Museum. He is a fine speaker on a wide range of topics. The Historical Society Board strives to present a variety of topics during the year. Recent offerings have included the Point Atkinson Lighthouse, the saving of the Kermode Bear, and the role of an historical society in the community. The ideas for these presentations have come from the members. We welcome all suggestions for topics or speakers. We need your input if we are to present items that are of interest to you. Remember that these presentations are free and open to public. See you on the 28th. Toys: A History, 1900 - 1950 will open in January of 2002. The toys children play with mirror the culture and society they grow up in and provide fascinating insights into our heritage. Tlie WVMA is actively seeking toys from private collections to include in this fun exhibit. If you are a toy collector or have antique toys in your possession that you would like to loan to the WVMA for the duration of the exhibit, please call Ian at 604-925-7179.
