EXECUTIVE REPORT: Annual General Meeting - June 27th, 2001 By.Dave Barker Circle the date on your calendar. The West Vancouver Historical Society's Annual General Meeting will be held at the Seniors' Activity Centre, 685-21st Street at 7 p.m. One of the main events of the evening is the election of a new Board of Directors. Hopeftilly many of the current Board will agree to run again, but a little fresh blood would be most welcome. Being on the Board is not onerous. It entails attending one evening meeting a month where you will have a chance to interact with other members who are interested in the history of West Vancouver and welcome the opportunity to assist the West Vancouver Museum and Archives. The responsibilities are few and the fun is great. Consider joining this happy band. See you all there WVHS Donates Funds to the Museum and Archives At its March meeting, the West Vancouver Historical Society Board of Directors voted to donate $1500 to the Museum and Archives. These funds were designated to assist the Museum to purchase copies of historical photos and film related to the Point Atkinson Lighthouse. These photos will be used in the upcoming Museum exhibit on the Lighthouse which will open on April 10th. This material will be stored at the Museum after the exhibit for public viewing. It is copyrighted material so the Museum cannot archive it. Last Spring the WVHS donated fimds to the Museum and Archives to assist in its purchase of a professional scanner. This large size scanner allows the Museum and Archives to scan precious photos and documents for display thus protecting the original. The public may also take advantage of this scanner if they wish to purchase copies of material stored in the Archives. i|ei|ii|c4E4c4c4t*>|c (Continued from page 1) The S.P.A.R.C. (Society for the Preservation of Antique Radio in Canada) Museum now boasts a time line of early cable communications, broadcast, military, amateur, wireless communications that is unsurpassed anywhere in North America. Members at our April meeting will be asked for their response to the suggestion that the Society's summer outing be to the SPARC Museum. Do we have many ham radio enthusiasts in our midst?
