This Fund, by the way, would benefit from any contribution that is made to it. For those planning to attend, it is urged that the committee be informed as early as possible as arrangements must be made with the caterers. As space at Gleneagles is limited; early r^stration is a must. lirrERSTQTHE EDITOR Re:April News Article on Page 8 regarding the Mulberry tree at 24 th and Marine Drive. My mother, Cherie Hall owned the property and house which was sold to the Imperial Oil Co. who wanted to put a gas station on the comer. She sold it to them with a “condition of sale,†that the Mulberry tree.was not to be disturbed. She knew it was one of a very few Mulberry trees in the Wncouver area. As a matter of fact, the Imperial Oil made her tal» a $5,000 deduction from the sale price in order to agree to her terms. Whatever has happened following disposal by Inqierial Oil is not known 1^ our J&mily. However, if Cherie Hall hadn't taken the initiative & $5,000 loss on the sale the Mulberry tree would not be there to-day. Cherie Hall had been living there since 1932. Yours truly, Hemy Hall (son) P.S. We thank the Municipality for continuing Cherie’s fight to keep the Mulberry tree safe. We look forward to reading your articles as my wife an I were bom and raised in West Wn.
