EXECUTIVE REPORT By: Ian Macdonald, President HELP WANTED After severM years of diligent attention to the finances of the Historical Society our Treasurer, Ian Loudon, has indicated he would like to free up some of his time. As a result we are now looking for a Treasurer - an accountant or bookkeeper, possibly retired, who would enjoy taking on this active role in the Society. If you are interested or know someone who might be please call Ian Macdonald at 922-0726. LOGGING HISTORY AT THE SENIOR CENTRE Thursday, November 28th at 1:30 pm, Hugh Johnston will be giving a talk and slide show on the history of logging and milling on HoUybum Mountain. Hugh did an earlier version of this show at a Society meeting a few years ago. Society members that missed it then or would like to see it again are welcome to attend. The room will hold about 30 people. To pre-book call the Senior Centre at 925 7280. Admission is free. “WHAT’S THAT YOU SAY?” “Yes, we know we had problems with the Senior Centre sound system.” We apologize to those who did not hear everything Dal Richards had to say. We are looking at what can be done for our next meeting; possibly a better mike or a better sound system entirely. Whatever it takes, we want you to hear it all on November 27th. THE GIRL GUIDES REQUEST OUR HELP Daphne Hales, Archives Coordinator for the West Vancouver Council, Girl Guides of Canada, informed us that the WVM&A will now be storing their Archives. The following is taken from their letter requesting assistance from our members. “We would appreciate it very much indeed if you would ask the membership of the Historical Society to help us. Were any of your members involved in Guiding in West Vancouver, as girls or leaders or parents? Do they know names, remember stories, have facts they would share with us? Might any of them know others who were in Guiding in West Vancouver? And finally, does anyone have any photographs, handbooks, uniform pieces, badges. Minutes or other memorabilia which they would be willing to give to the Guides or donate to the Archives to help flesh out our history? We really want to collect these memories before it is too late.
