EXECUTIVE REPORT By: Helen Davies, President BOARD OF DIRECTORS CHANGES At the April 29, 1997 Annual General Meeting, two new directors were elected to the Society board. We are pleased to welcome Alistair Nicol and Ken Willington to the board. Alistair is a long-time resident of West Vancouver and member of the Rotary club. Ken Willington, who will serve as Treasurer, spent his childhood in West Vancouver and attended Hollybum school. Not standing for re-electicm were former directors Gabriele Sinclair, Hugh Johnston, and past-Treasurer, Ian Loudon. At the AGM a Society member asked if Hugh would stand for another term as director. Hugh thanked the membership for their support, but said thaL after seventeen years as a director, he was ready to tackle new projects. Hugh will continue to play an active role in the Society. We look forward to his continued involvement and thank him for all his efforts in the past. The board also extends a warm thank you to Ian Loudon for volunteering his expertise as society Treasurer over the years. Thanks too to Gabriele who had to step down due to family commitments, but will remain involved in selecting books for the Museum gift shop. All three members made valuable contributions to the Society and their work on behalf of the membership is greatly appreciated. Tom Taylor is stepping down as Vice-president and Alan Johnstone, elected to the board last year, has graciously agreed to accept the position. Ian Macdonald, having completed the fiill three year term as President that our Constitution allows, continues on the Board as Past President. Like Historical Society Presidents before him, Ian worked tirelessly, putting in many hours to ensure that our organization continues to grow and flourish. I would like to thank all the directors elected at the recent AGM for agreeing to serve on the Society board. I look forward to working with them in the coming year. She will be the new Curator of Collections at the Port Albemi Museum. Jacquie has been a driving force at our Museum, always working hard to build a strong facility of which we can all be proud. Jacquie was instrumental in preparing the Museum for opening in 1994 and has continued to play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the facility. Jacquie, we wish you all the best in your new adventure and hope that you will stop by and visit us from time to time. I am sure Historical Society members will be visiting the Island to drop in and say hello to you.
