SUMMER 97 WEST VANCOUVER MUSEUM & ARCHIVES EXHIBITIONS FIBE! A History of Fire Fighting in West Vancouver m m' Ongoing to Oct 31 From its beginnings, the West Vancouver Fire Department was completely staffed by volunteers. Brigades were established in local mercantile districts and volunteers were alerted to fires by the whine of an air raid siren. But as West Vancouver grew and fighting fires became more complex, professionally trained fire fighters were needed. Offered in partnership with the West Vancouver Fire Service Museum & Archives Society and the West Vancouver Fire Department, this exhibit highlights the growth and development of fire services in West Vancouver and through some fascinating collections, examines the changes in fire fighting technology. At the North Vancouver Museum & Archives see FlBEl The history of fire fighting as it developed in the Province of BC.
