It will also include some of West Vancouver's personal collectors and their collections. Regrettably, the travelling exhibit, A Chapter in the Lives of the Heiltsuk, which highlighted the role of First Nation Heiltsuk women in Canneries, and was part of the Cannery Days exhibit, closed February 9,1996. The accompanying exhibit, A Gathering of Great Northern Memories, however, will remain until February 24. Be sure to make this part of your Heritage Week if you have not yet seen it DENHEZ NEXT GENERAL MEETING Will be held on Thursday, February 22,1996 in the Auditorium of the Cedardale Centre, 595 Burley Drive (off Inglewood East of Taylor Way) and will commence at 7:00 pmi. The change from the last Thursday in the month was made to suit the time table of our guest speaker, Marc Denhez, who has come from Ottawa to speak in Vancouver to a conference of Architects and Planners as part of National Heritage Week. FEATURE PRESENTATION Canadian Housing Historian, Marc Denhez Our Guest Speaker wiU be Marc Denhez, internationally published author in seven countries and in seven languages, a lawyer and former Research Director for the Heritage Canada Foundation. He is widely sought as a speaker for his ability to promote his subject intelligently and with humour in his own unique style. For more information on Marc Denhez see the Book Review on page 5 and a further introduction on page 8. West Vancouver 1996 Heritage Achievement Awards Presentation The second annual WEST VANCOUVER HERITAGE ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS will be presented during a Heritage Reception on Feb. 24th, at 2:00 pm, at the Museum & Archives. The annual Heritage Achievement Award program was initiated last year by the District of West Vancouver, through the Heritage Advisory Commission in order to publicly recognize individuals, groups, and projects which demonstrate a significant community Heritage contribution. This year, the award recipients represent a broad spectrum of residents who have made positive impact on the character of West Vancouver, and who have furthered file goals of Heritage Awareness and Preservation. The full list of recipients will be aimounced on the day of the reception.
