WEST VANCOUVER MEMORIAL LIBRARY. fflSTORY- ONICS ms /, VOL. 13 NO. 2 MARCH '139& THE NEWSLETTER OF THE WEST VANCOUVER HISTORICAL SOCIETY Citizens Of West Vancouver Receive Heritage Award Advocates of Ferry Building Preservation Chosen for 1994 Heritage Achievement Award One of three 1994 First Annual West Vancouver Achievement Awards, presented at a Heritage Reception held Saturday, Feb. 25 at the West Vancouver Museum & Archives, recognized those citizens of West Vancouver who had advocated the preservation of the Ferry Building. Society members can take great pride in being in the forefront of that advocacy. Mr. Ted Reynolds was MC and Mayor Mark Sager and Michael Bames, Chair of the Heritage Advisory Conmiittee, made the presentations. Also recipients of an award were The Board of School Trustees, West Van School District #45, and the fredale Partnership Structural Engineers for their work in restoration of Pauline Johnson School. q Montgomery A third award was made to the architecture firm of Sharp Thompson Berwick and Pratt for their contribution to the built form of West Vancouver. The West Vancouver Survey of Significant Architecture, 1945-1975, list 24 buildings designed by the firm, including two winners of the Massey Medal for Architecture. The event was well attended and everyone appreciated the refreshments provided by the WVM&A volunteers. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Will be held on Thursday, March 23,1995 in the Auditorium of the Cedardale Centre, 595 Burley Drive (off Inglewood East of Taylor Way) and will commence at 7:00 p.m. See pages 2,5 & 6 for info. Because Cedardale Centre is not served by public transportation, the Society has a program to provide rides for members who do not drive.
