Presentation of $55,000 to Mayor Sager Completes WVHS Role in Museum Development December 5th was another proud day for the West Vancouver Historical Society. Mayor Mark Sager came across Esquimau to Gertrude Lawson House and, as Mrs. Kay Meek looked on, was presented with a cheque for $55,000. Originating in 1991 as a donation to the Society of $50,000 from the “Kay Meek Foundation Fundâ€, the money was specifically designated for display cabinets and furnishings. This cheque reimburses the Corporation, who was the prime developer of the Museum, for their expenditures in providing these fittings. Provincial Court Judge Reg. D. Grandison will be our Guest Speaker at the January 26 General Meeting. In his presentation titled, “The Justice System in Your Lifeâ€, Judge Grandison will describe changes in West Vancouver’ s court system from the mid-20 ’ s to the present. With that historical background, he will comment on national and local influences affecting Canada’s justice system including family values, population density, life style and youth behaviour. Reg Grandison has served 16 years as a provincial court judge. Prior to that he was in private practice. With growing public concern about crime and perceived abuses of the law.
