Page 4 WEST VANCOUVERHISTORICALSOCIETY November 1994 SOCIETY NEWS â€" Current Affairs and News of General Interest to Members EDITORIAL COMMENT Thanks Susan For a Job Well Done! Susan Dirasser has handled the difficult task of organizing the Newsletter distribution since the present Newsletter team took over, some 8 issues back. This issue will the last for her as she is going on to more demanding service as a Director for the Society. She has done an exceptional job of organizing the mailing crew and our fondest hope is that the system she has set up will continue to function as well as in the past. Good luck Susan, we have appreciated all the help you have given us. Quill Printing Ltd. to Print History-onics We have been searching for a West Vancouver printer for our Newsletter for some time. Finally we have settled on Quill Printing at250 The Village Square, 1405 Marine Drive. Our circulation has reached the point where it is practical to have our Newsletter printed rather than photocopied and we have been assured that the quality of printing will improve, particularly for illustrations. After the last issue we sincerely hope this is the case. SPECIAL EVENTS ACTIVITIES IT'S PARTY TIME! That time is drawing near when we shake-out our party outfits, shine our shoes and our tiaras, tuck some mistletoe in our hair and saddle up for the CHRISTMAS PARTY! For details see your personal invitation below, and to the right. Just bring yourself and your partner, some munchies and or some goodies...that is some crackers and cheese or some cookies or cake, and DO NOT FORGET THE FOOD BANK! RIDES: Anyone needing transportation, or anyone who can provide transport, please add your name to the list (at the next meeting) or telephone Laureen at 922 4463 where you can leave a message. And Please, Plan Ahead! HOW TO FIND SPURWAY AND PARKING: Approach from Taylor Way, turn east at Keith Road, drive to 235 Keith, to the second entrance which is nearest to the bridge. Turn left, driving up to the lodge to let your passengers off, then return and park on Keith Road. Parking is permissable on both sides of Keith (until 2 AM). There is also a small parking area at the top of the road. DON'T FORGET YOUR FLASHLIGHT as the road to the lodge is not well lit By: Laureen Jones - Director, Special Events Membership Report ITS MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL TIME We would like to remind all members, except Life and and Corporate members, that payment for 1995 membership is due January 1. We have enclosed a membership renewal form on a separate page accompanying this Newsletter. Please, don’t put it aside until later; take a moment and send the cheque now while you are thinking about it! One of the more tangible benefits of membership is our Newsletter; unfortunaely it is the Society’s largest single expense. With escalating costs we can no longer afford to mail copies to those who do not renew their membership. To avoid missing an issue or two, please send your renewals in promptly. As renewal time comes around again we are reminded of the incredible support we received from members in donations to the Museum Building Fund. The major hurdle has been cleared but our Society continues to be approached for financial assistance for the Museum and Archives. We ask all members give consideration to a donation as we enter the New Year. MEMBERSHIP UP DATE At time of printing we have 432 paid up members with 15 new members joining since our last Newsletter. Following is an alphabetical list of the new members: Mrs. Barbara Burt Jessie Dougherty Murray Smeale Stuart Kidd Alan McGillvary Lorie Pentland Olive M.
