EXECUTIVE REPORTS By: Peter Hall, President ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The Annual General Meeting of the West Vancouver Historical Society will be held on Thursday March 24 at 7:00 pm at Cedardale Centre. Among the items of business is the election of directors for the ensuing year. As usual, the Nominating Committee will present a list of members for consideration. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor PROVIDED the nominee:- (a) is present (b) accepts the nomination (c) is a paid up member of the Society (d) and there is a mover and seconder. Our bylaws provide that the officers are elected by the Directors at their first meeting following the AGM. MUSEUM OPENING PLANNED FOR JULY 1 The Municipality has chosen the opening of the Museum for the focus of West Van’s Canada Day celebrations. Society directors Laureen Jones and Peter Finch are members of the committee set up to plan this gala day. Be sure to mark your calendar for July 1st and come out to the celebration. PROJECTS The Walking Tour Brochure, part of the Green Gold grant project, still (at date of writing) awaits formal text and format approval from federal and provincial officials. Once received, the presses will roll. Archivist Christina Andrews reports that the long-running CAAP project is nearing completion. This project covered preparation of a policy and procedures manual for the Archives, and a photographic reference system for ease of locating photographs by subject. MEMBERSHIP DUES We do not like to be reminding members to pay their annual dues, but we do wish to remind any who have not renewed for 1994 that this will be the last HISTORY-ONICS you will receive. Dues are a modest $15 for those under 60, and $10 for those 60 or above. POINT ATKINSON DECLARED A NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE Yes - Point Atkinson Lighthouse, West Vancouver’s second oldest stmcture, has been declared a National Historic Site and a grand ceremony to mark the occasion will be held in conjunction with Heritage Weekend in mid-September.
