XECUTIVE REPORTS By: Peter Hall, President fflSTORICAL SOCIETY RECEIVES HERITAGE AWARD The Historical Society was presented with a prestigious Heritage Award by the B.C. Heritage Society at its November general meeting. The award, in recognition of our success in achieving the restoration of the Gertrude Lawson House, was presented to the President by John Stuait, a Heritage Society director. CHRISTMAS PARTY A SMASHING SUCCESS The Society’s annual Christmas party was a great success, and thanks are due to all those who made it so. Particular thanks are due to Laureen Jones who took command of the arrangements and to Joan Skipper who arranged for the use of Spuraway Lodge (and cleaned up after us). Christmas music, carols, food and a real-Ufe Santa added to the festivities. A warm vote of appreciation to those who worked hard to produce a wonderful evening. PROJECTS NEAR COMPLETION The two grant projects mentioned in this column in September are nearly completed. The forest history project made possible by a Green Gold grant will be completed by month end, and will produce a walking tour brochure as well as material for a museum exhibit. The education project, made possible by a grant from the North Shore Arts Commission, has produced an in-house museum program and school kits for use by teachers. The latter will be fine-tuned when teacher feed back is completed. MUSEUM TO OPEN JULY 11994 - HURRAY! Yes, the West Vancouver Museum has set a date for its official opening! Curator Jacquie Gijssen announced at our November meeting that the doors will swing open to the public on July 1 1994. The extra funding announced in our November History-onics was just what was needed to get the show on the road. Be sure to mark the date on your calendar. ARCHIVIST’S TIME INCREASED Our members who serve as volunteers in the archives were delighted to hear that the municipality had increased the work time of Archivist Christina Andrews to half time. HAVE YOU RENEWED YOUR MEMBERSHIP FOR 1994? We have had a splendid response to our call for membership renewals, but there are still some out there who have had it slip there minds. If so, please consider renewing today! Senior’s dues are $10, others $15. And please also feel free to add a donation to our Capital Fund.
