Page 3 COMINGS The GOOD NEWS is that the Municipality has approved the hiring of an Archivist. Before leaving for London, England, Laura Coles submitted a report to the Municipality recommending the hiring of a part time Archivist to provide the professional leadership the Archives require. The proposal has been accepted by the Municipality and posting for the position is scheduled to take place in mid-January . GOINGS The BAD NEWS is that due to other commitments, Janis Johnson, Director of Mem-berbership, has regretfully resigned from the Executive of the WVM&HS. AND GOINGS-ON HERITAGE WEEK From February 15th to 19th the West Vancouver Museum will be open to the public every afternoon from 1:00 to 4:30 pm. Drop by and view a special exhibition of photographs of the top heritage homes in West Vancouver. This event is co-sponsored by the Museum and the West Vancouver Heritage Advisory Committee. Take a tour of the Gertrude Lawson House and the Museum and Archives and hear about plans for the facility! The grand opening of the Gertrude Lav;son House facility will not be scheduled until ue have final budget approval, however, the planning for exhibits and programs is well under way in anticipation of an opening sometime in late 1993 or early 1994. Our office hours for the winter-spring are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, or by appointment. MUSEUM VOLUNTEERS If you haven't already sent in the Volunteer Questionnaire form from your November newsletter, please do so NOW. There is still time to sign up for the spring session of Volunteer Training at the Museum. Volunteers who have expressed an interest in the "Introduction to Museums" course will be contacted personally to discuss details of the course. Those of you interested in volunteering in the Museum this spring - don't delay. How to handle objects, designing and producing exhibitions, researching and cataloguing artifacts, tour guiding and visits to Lower Mainland museums are a few of the topics we will cover.
