The Gertrude Lawson House This stately home was built in 1038 by Gertrude Lawson, daughter of John and Christina Lawson, pioneer residents of West Vancouver from 1909. Gertrude was a much beloved teacher in West Vancouver for three decades. She died in 1989 at the age of 96. The stones used for the exterior of the house were brought from New Zealand as ballast on a sailing ship. These stones were acquired by John Lawson and stored until used for Gertrude's house.
