Page 8 ME>1BERSHIPS OWING With the exception of corporate, lifetime and gift memberships, regular and senior members should take note that unless you have paid your 1993 dues, this History-onics will be the last one mailed to you. To answer the question, "Why do we terminate the newsletter so early in the year?" The answer is economics. If we mailed the May issue to members in arrears, we would have supplied 60% of the year's newsletters, including the ever upward-spiralling postage costs, with no guarantee of a renewal. ME>1BERSHIPS PAID We would like to thank those members who, when paying their dues, so thoughtfully enclosed self-addressed envelopes, extra stamps or money for postage. It is only a small handfull of ladies vdio process the several hundred membership remittances. The self-addressed envelopes are a real labour-saver and the extra stamps a great convenience. Donations to the Historical Society and the Museum and Archives Equipment Fund have, as we have almost come to expect, flowed in - close to $3500 worth including $750 from the "Life Timers" who wouldn't normally even get a boo at an invoice. You're a great group and we thank you all. WELCXDME NEW MEMBERS We are pleased to welcome the following new members to the Historical Society:-Mrs. Marjorie Andrews, Mrs. Terri Birch, Kevin Connery, Mrs. F. Patricia Crawford, George and Helen Elo, Lynne Flipse, Mrs. Barbara Fulcher, Mrs. Fran Mitchell, Mrs. Jennifer Nixon, Mrs. Esther Roach and Andreas Schaaf all of West Vancouver. Mrs. Brenda (Wicking) Corkill of Victoria; Mrs. Amelia Graham of Clinton; North Vanners Roy and Shirley Jordan and Tom Meglaughlin; and from Washington State, Sandra McGillivray Ortgies. CORPORATE MEMBERS You never know who has a nice little company tucked up his sleeve! At this time last year, Barry Hicklenton converted his senior membership to corporate - Barry Hicklenton Insurance Agencies Ltd., and included a generous donation to our Capital Fund. This year G. V. Kirk Electric Ltd., of North Vancouver, comes to us through long time member Betty (Vickery) Kirk who does the books for her son's company - and again, the membership included a handsome donation. Makes one wonder how many other little companies are out there just waiting to become corporates? The names of all our corporate members follow in order of joining: Chapman & Chapman; Hollybum Funeral Home Ltd.; Peppi's Restaurant Ltd.; West Van. Florist Ltd.; Ferguson Moving (1990) Ltd.; Wetmore Motors Ltd.; Stong's Markets Ltd.; Murchie's Tea & Coffee Ltd.; The Ambleside Inn; Watt Real Estate Ltd.; Crawford E.
