Page 7 I stood on the wharf at Hollybuin And watched the sun's last gleam And saw in the fading twilight John Lawson and his team. I heard the music From the Pavilion near at hand And why Honest John allowed it I could not understand WASN'T THAT A PARTY? Over 40 members gathered at the beautifully decorated and historical "Spur-away Lodge" on December 12, and what a perfect setting for the Christmas party it was. As a resident of "Spuraway", Director Joan Skipper was able to facilitate the reservation of the lodge and thanks to her everything was in readiness for the party and left in A-one condition afterwards. Host and M.C., Director Don Youngson, was in good form greeting the guests and handing out tickets for the door prizes which he had cajoled from West Vancouver merchants. Don also made sure that the bar supplies were in order for our congenial Bartender, Eric Lashbrook so he could perform his very necessary duties in the style to which we have all become accustomed these past five Decembers. To the Caterers -- what can we say? Without a doubt Barbara Johnson and her husband Harold outshone all previous parties and meetings and they looked as if they had a chance to enjoy themselves too. With Harold's snappy red Christmas tie with red and green sequins flashing on and off; Barbara's green Christmas tree brooch with its little diamond winking at us; and the lovely Christmas music being played by pianist Pat McCrady, Christmas was in the air. The only thing missing were the "carollers" and try as we would we couldn't raise a note, preferring not to spoil the music which was a real treat. Next time, we won't overlook supplying song sheets! Last but not least, it would not have been a party without all the beautiful refreshments donated by our members, both for the guests and the West Vancouver Christmas Bureau. Thank you everyone and a special thanks to the caretakers at "Spuraway" who did such a wonderful job with the decorating and we're told that you really had your hearts in it. Mary L. Chapman Dear Friends: The West Vancouver Santa Claus Fund would like to thank all of you once again for your annual donation of "goodies" which we are delighted to include in our Christmas Hampers. You may be sure that your thoughtfulness helped to make some of our unfortunate neighbours a little happier this festive season. For the very best to everyone in 1992. S incerely, (Mrs.) Ruth Stout, West Vancouver Santa Claus Fund
