"The system was less effective and more costly than the trained dogs of a century ago that barked when they heard a ship's horn.†The slides shown at the conclusion of Mr. Graham's talk graphically depicted many aspects of lighthouses including their isolation and their vulnerability to severe damage by winter storms. Peter Hall thanked Mr. Graham for the splendid presentation and noted that there was a box of the lighthouse books available for purchase, and that the author would be only too pleased to autograph them.
