Page 2 REPORTS PORT DAY 1990 - The theme for this event Vvzas "Our Waterfront Heritageâ€. De- spite the rain, attendance was good. Our display consisted of 6 wall panels on the ferries, ferry building and ferry memorabilia; Navvy Jack Thomas; and harbour lighthouses. There were also models of the ferry building, Capilano lighthouse and 5 or 6 historical ships including the Princess Victoria and the Nootka. COMMUNITY DAY - The focus of our display was the Gertrude Lawson House fea-turing 8 wall panels of the Lawson family and the Gertrude Lawson House; early West Van; and a bit of promo re the restoration of the Gertrude Lawson House, a model of which was on display along with one of the Lawson family home. We showed the video of West Van's 75th Anniversary and as the VCR and large screen are permanent equipment in the Music Room at the Seniors' Centre, no rental costs were involved. Also on display was a drawing of the Gertrude Lawson House. We can report a very good attendance this year. TAX DAYS AT THE MUNICIPAL HALL - this display was unmanned. The word, accord-ing to my dictionary, means "to deprive of manly courage or fortitude" which seems particularly appropriate when one is about to be clobbered by the tax collector. The display, a scaled down version of the foregoing displays, was exhibited from June 26th to July 4th. Again, the drawing of the Gertrude Lawson House was featured and information about donations for prints and the ordering of hasti-notes, was available. Giveouts for all displays were: the Ferry Building folder, Seawalk folder, lage walk and the WVMSJiS application form. Vil- SPECIAL THANKS to Bas Collins for loaning his very popular models; to Joyce Minions in charge of manning displays; and to Joan Skipper, Babs Middleton, Mary Chapman, Marjorie Murray, Norma Sissons and Joan Ramsay who put in time at the desk greeting visitors, answering questions and being most helpful.
