We have all that we can handle right now and Rupert Harrison's collecton, which is one of the best in the Municipality, will be combined with ours.; Hugh Johnston mentioned that, as the result of the letter sent to all members, quite a number attended the Council meeting on July 17, which was an encouragement to the Executive but, before going ahead with the $15,000.00, which we have been building up for a number of years from lifetime memberships, donations, and bequests, we need the approval of the membership, so he proposed the following motion: "MOVED THAT the West Vancouver Museum and Historical Society persue the establishment of a Museum and Archives in the Gertrude Lawson House as outlined in our proposal to Municipal Council on July 17, 1989, and THAT funds presently held in our Capital Building Fund be assigned to this project." SECONDED by Margaret Whiffen. CARRIED Laura Coles, our much appreciated temporary archivist, brought us up-to-date on recent activities and gave us a graphic illustration of how valuable archival material can turn up in the most unexpected places! Jack Leyland reported that the renovated Ferry Office has been completed and it is now being used for art displays. We have three display cabinets which can be seen there at all times and there are 16 display panels, donated by individuals. Laureen Jones reported that our Society will have a display there from October 24th to October 29th. Once again the President made a plea for a secretary, whose main job would be to take Minutes of the monthly executive meetings. The meeting was then adjourned and we all moved downstairs to see the new workroom and enjoy refreshments prepared by Barbara Johnson and her helpers.
