Too bad the folks from Heritage Canada, in town for their 16th Annual Conference, didn't have time to include us in their tour, as originally planned. The Ferry Office Building was looking particularly attractive and Laureen Jones and Hugh Johnston deserve three cheers for the time and endeavour so obviously evident in their fine display. We are particularly appreciative for the loan of material from the Bas Collins collection. Having Bas to call on for information is like having a research library that never closes. Thanks are due those who manned the display from October 24th to 29th - Laureen Jones and Hugh Johnston, of course, and President Jack Leyland, Vice President Hugh Addison, Treasurer Joan Skipper, Directors Mary Chapman, Don Youngson and David Wilson, and a finger to the forelock to non-conscriptees Betty Kirk, Pat Power and Dorothy Nelson. You will have read in the report of the September General Meeting that "we will be going to businesses, our members and the community at large to raise further funds". It would seem that Gwen Murchie and Josie Gunn have X-ray vision to be sending in such generous donations before we've even asked!
