OMNIUM GATHERUM '’m. a miscellaneous collection (f. Latin omnium meaning ’’all of†and gatherum meaning â€a gatheringâ€, pseudo-Latin, derivative of gather) The Editor hopes to make Omnium-Gatherum an on going department of the newsletter in order to provide a means by which members can express their ideas; ask questions; submit suggestions and voice opinions. The Editor History-onics Many thanks for your letter of June 26/89 with enquiry. Wings Point was, I believe, the area between 25th Street & 27th Street on Bellevue - the section south of the P.G.E. (now B.C. Rail) between Bellevue and the waterfront. Our family moved from the Wings Point district to the Little Green House in 1920. I think we may have resided in the â€Dog Kennels†for a few months prior to moving to the Little Green House. Most of our friends lived, at one time, in the Kennels - a string of summer-like cottages - all attached - just behind the Cla-chan (which is now Peppi’s). The cabins were verandahed and sectioned off by a lattice wall betv/een each. The back porches housed the outdoor toilet for each cabin. Tliey were quite primitive. So, now I hope all is clear? It sure takes me back about 70 years! All the best. Pixie (Reid) Daley Halfmoon Bay, B.C. A doff of the hat to Andrew Reid, Katie Dickinson, Trixie Snelgrove and Doug Hookam whose donations to our Displacement Disbursment Fund (along with the ’coffee' money collected at our May meeting), balanced off BC Tel’s change of service charge v/ith $6.75 to spare. Ordinarily, that v/ould mean a refund of $1.69 each, had not the movers drank it. THE MOVERS Thursday, June 22, Hugh Johnston and David Wilson transported all the shelving. Friday, under the guidance of Jack Leyland, Hugh Johnston, Mary Chapman and Laura Coles, the artifacts, records, typevTriters, etc., were trundled off to Cedardale in a variety of vehicles. Pat Hudson Power, Laureen Jones, Hal Johnson and son Ken, all rendered sterling service. Saturday sav; the last of it, the furniture being hefted and/or transported by Hugh A. and Hugh J., Bob Thompson, Jack Leyland, Dave Coles and Don Youngson at the wheel of a Ferguson’s truck (THANK YOU, PAUL REANO). THE PACKERS Laura Coles, Mary Chapman, Joan Skipper, Laureen Jones, David and Georgia Wilson. Hope we haven’t overlooked anyone.
