Susan Green, Curator, gave a very interesting report on the organization of a museum. The President's announcement that we have received approval of our grant application to th B.C. Archives Council which will enable us to keep Laura Coles as Archivist for a further one year period, was a high note on which to bring the meeting to a conclusion. Frances Harman marched off to get her coffee in her newly won coffee mug. If I'm not mistaken, Frances also walked away with a pair of Capilano Suspension Bridge tickets won at the Christmas Party. If I was a gambling person, I can tell you who'd be buying my lottery tickets! REMINDERS PORT DAY For the third consecutive year, we will be participating in this event on behalf of the District of West Vancouver. The theme this year is "Our Waterfront Heritage". The event will take place on Sunday, May 27 at the Pacific Marine Training Institute at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver from 10 AM to 4 PM. Try to get down there for a couple of hours. There's plenty to see and do. Of course, you'll want to visit our display which consists of six panels prepared by Laureen Jones and models made by Bas Collins of the ferry building, Capilano Light House and several local, historical ships. Please demonstrate your support by attending. Our volunteers appreciate a cheery 'hello'. COMMUNITY DAY Always held on the first Saturday in June - this year, circle the 2nd. Our display can be seen in the Music Room of the Seniors' Centre between the hours of 12 noon and 5 PM. The theme is the "Gertrude Lawson House". A brief history of the Lawson family in general and Gertrude in particular .... and a bit of promotion on our building fund for the restoration of the house -our headquarters when completed. The pictoral display will consist of 8 panels; models from the Bas Collins collection; a drawing of the Gertrude Lawson House that is being used as a fund raiser and the video of West Vancouver's 75th Anniversary. And lastly, but very importantly, - PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR OWN COFFEE MUG to our May 24th General Meeting. We were impressed with the number who did so at the AGM.
