LUCY TD THE RESCUE OLE! (That's Mayor Lanskail on the left and Lifetime Member Kay Meek on the right) Hurrah for Lucy Smith! Not only is she our Recording Secretary (alas, about to step down) but she is as adroit with a shutter as she is with shorthand and, thanks to her, our President isn't going to be nailed for that promised "photo opportunity" we mentioned before. Too bad about the blurred hand in the foreground, but isn't the rest of the photo a dandy? Many thanks to member David V. Swanson over in Sidney for the excellent reproduction of this snapshot. Dave sent over a couple of "before and after" pic-res of a seemingly unmanned pleasure boat. Sample #1 was as black and white as coal and snow and in quality, could be taken for any one of our past newsletter photographs. Sample #2 was every known shade of gray and guess what? There were two old salts at the vdieel of the pleasure boat "Folly". These terrific results were obtained through some sort of screening process and Dave has of-red the services of his "Hygrade Printing" company as his contribution - if the Society would be interested. Interested? I ask you. Is the Ayatolla Muslim? PHOTOGPvAPHIC COMMITTEE REPORT Our photographic darkroom is now operational. We are at present producing contact print sheets of our copy negatives for cataloging. Anyone interested in learning how to make black and white prints please contact David Wilson at 988-1895. Thanks to Hugh Johnston for his carpentry skills and to Bas Collins for producing the black-out curtains, for without their help we would still be stumbling around in the light.
