YEARBOOKS OH HnAUALS A part of the history of this municipality is to be foand in the annuals or year books put out by the graduating class of each year. The Society is fortunate in that it has been given all the annuals from 1957 to the present by a teacher retired from West Vancouver Secondary.. Other sources have contributed annuals for the years 1956, 1953, 1951, 1948, 1946, 1945, 1935, 1934. To complete our collection, we need the annuals for the missing years, and for the years before 1934. If your year published a year book, would you let the archives have it? It is to be expected that not every year had its annual. It is doubtful that the ten graduating students of the first year, 1925, would have been able to turn anything out. Perhaps the three members from that year might let us know. We would like nil reports as well as annuals If you graduated, for example, during the depression, it is possible, even probable, that economics stood in the way of a publication. If we know, we can stop looking for that year. For later years, you may have to ask your children, or even your grandchi1dren, but do what you can for us. FROM THE WEST VANCOUVER ANNUAL 1934 Effie Vickery : One of the prettiest girls in Grade XII of the truly Irish type - black haired blue-grey.eyed. Has a habit of holding conferences with another fair member of this class. We wonder whom they massacre in these talks. Her favorite sport in baseball, although she is a clever "hoop" artist too. Pet aversion -- a tough game of hockey abd bi cycles. THE CHRISTMAS PARTY 1986 At least seventy people showed up for the Christmas Party, held Thursday 11 December, in the Music Room at Pauline Johnson School. There was no entertainment, other than to open the History Room and let people look around - which many of them did throughout the evening. The real intent of the gathering was to provide a social atmosphere in which people could meet and talk, And that they di d. People do change over forty years - and name tags would have been useful - big ones with big clear names for the sake of tired old eyes. We will remember that for next year. Marjorie Murray did her usual excellent job with the refreshments. David Wilson not only bought the wine but served it -to both of them our best thanks. Our thanks as well to those who contrik) buted to the money tree. It defrayed most of the expenses of the evening. And a special thanks to all those who responded to our request for food. After those present had had all they wanted there were still two boxes of mince tarts, cookies and short bread, and a bag of little pi urn puddings to take to the Santa Claus Repository. Mrs. Stout was delighted, saying that the sweets would be a welcome addition to the Christmas packages being prepared. Once again, the Historical Society has done itself proud. All the Executive can say is Thank you and MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
