•3EMERAL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFICERS The Annual General Meeting has been set for Tuesday 18 March 1986. The newsletter which will precede the meeting will contain the reports to be considered at the meeting. An important item on the agenda is of course the election of officers. The Executive would like to see every office contested. Equally important is the planning for the coming year. A request has already been made of Council that the old ferry ticket office, one of the few real heritage buildings in West Vancouver, be turned over to the Society for use as a Museum Display Area. Out of this may well come the planning of a museum to be coupled with the display area. The Executive is thinking big - but to no purpose unless it has the full and active support of a large and active membership. You will be pleasantly surprised with the membership report when it comes in the next issue. But we need your help to see that last year's growth is just a beginning. At the A.G.M., we would like your reaction to last year's program of meetings and newsletters and any suggestions for improvement which you may have. It is your Society - let the Executive know what you would like. Keep Tuesday 18 March 1986 open for the Annual General Meeting. We will give you the usual opportunity to socialize. All Officers of the Society, except the Archivist and the Newsletter Editor, are elected annually for one year terms. This year, all candidates for office, including incumbents, must be recorded on a properly completed Nomination Form showing the nominator, the seconder, and the acceptance of the nominee. If you wish to stand for office, contact any member of the Nominating Committee: Babs Middleton 922 - 1404 Ted Sewell 922 - 4395 Hugh Johnston 922 - 0306. At the Annual General Meeting, nominations will be accepted from the floor, but again, there must be a mover and a seconder, and the consent of the candidate must be given, verbally if he/she is present, in writing if not. The Society had a good year in 1985, and made substantial gains; but 1986 promises to be even more successful. The Society has asked for the use of the old ticket office as a Museum Display Area. If it is granted the Society will need the best and most active of Executives. If you would like to be involved in the fun and excitement, run for offi ce!
