ODDS i ENDS THE PRINCESS AND HER FAMILY B.C. HISTORICAL NEWS Our treasurer, Georgie Wilson, has been disturbed to discover that some of you who have ordered the "B.C. HISTORICAL NEWS" may not have been receiving it. We can assure you that the fault is not with Georgie. When you sign up for the News, as a new subscriber, the Federation is supposed to send you the next issue printed, and against your name on the mailing label, the number of the last issue you will receive. If the first issue you received was "19 - 2", the last one you would get would be "20 - 2". After receiving one complaint, Georgie checked with a few people and found reason to write to the treasurer of the Federation Could you check your own last copy to make sure that you are listed for the correct four editions. If you have any doubts, speak to Georgie at the next meeting. We regard this as our problem as we encouraged you .all to subscribe. B.C. HISTORICAL FEDERATION ANNUAL CONFERENCE This year, 1986, the conference will be held in the Gage Towers at U.B.C. From 8 May to 11 May. There are some sessions that some of you may wish to take in: In the Isobel MacInnes Lounge, 7:30 P.M. 8 May, Ivan Sayers will give a historic Fashion Show. (We saw Ivan at one of our meetings last year and his talk was fascinating. I still dream of bustles). If you want a nice excursion during the summer, and one away from the Expo crowds, you mighy like to visit the Princess and her family, waiting for you at the Vancouver Maritime Museum . The Princess is the first of the old C.P.R. steamships and the family are the 31 other princess vessels that followed. Those of you who enjoyed the princesses in their days of gracious living (they had not heard of paper plates or paper napkins) might like to see the ships in retrospect. Admission is $1.75, and at that, there is probably a cheaper seniors' rate. .™ In the Isobel MacInnes Lounge, 10:30 A.M., Leonard McCann will talk on "B.C. Ship Wrecks." As Curator of the Maritime Museum, he should know this subject. There are other items of some interest, but to attend them all, you must enrol for the conference. Ask about the conference at our meeting. Len McCann, Curator, dusts off a golden eagle as he prepares for the Princess Exhibit
