MAY QUEEN DALE ERIKSEN - 1935 By going from Maid of Honour in 1934 to Queen in 1935, Dale Eriksen created a problem. Both queen and maid of honour appear at two May Days, one at which the queen is crowned and the other at which she crowns her successor. With Dale as queen, retiring Queen Margaret was left with but one Maid of Honour. She was replaced by a young lady named Delwyn Beaty, but there is no information on why or how she was chosen. Perhaps she was the fourth choice in the popular election by students the year before. Equally possibly, she was picked at random when the Committee suddenly realized that they were a Maid short. Again, the Society appeals to its audience for help. Obviously, it is better if the progression is from Guard of Honour to Queen, and there were two future queens among the Guards - Norma Minions for 1936 and Ruth Parnum for 1937.
