BRITISH COLUMBIA HISTORICAL FEDERATION. On Saturday 18 February 1984, your president attended the Council Meeting of the hederatiofi, held in the Board Room of the Vancouver Museum. The Federation, as well as the Society, is concerned about changes of address. With bulk mailing, it costs ten cents to mail the B.C. Historical News to all subscribers. But if a magazine is returned as undeliverable, the Post Office charges the Federation Mt. And if the magazine is remailed to the correct address, the individual mailing costs 36?J. If you move, let the Society know and we will inform the Federation. The Federation is looking for volunteers to act as market managers in each area for the Historical News. The job entails getting local book and magazine stores to carry a few copies of the News for public sale. If you could and would help in this way, phone 922 - 8264. The Federation maintains a Publication Assistance Fund. If you are writing a book or pamphlet on local or provincial history, and need help with publications costs, write to the Federation. The address is in the magazine. The Federation's writing competition resulted in nineteen book entries, three of which were judged ineligible ( two because the data was not sufficiently supported by footnotes; the third because it was written in Japanese and the jury could not find a translator.) The winner was Mrs. Daphne Slay's "Discovering LaRoche". The Annual Convention of the Federation will be held this year in Vernon from Thursday to Friday 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 May. The Village Green Inn will be the centre and reservations can be made by sending the cost of one night ($40 -45) to the hotel. The field trips planned sound most interesting.
